On the 14th of March 1879, Albert Einstein was born in Ulm, in the Bahnhofstraße 20. His period of residence in the Danube city was limited though: his parents moved to Munich, where his father Hermann registered him, together with the other members of the family, on the 21st of June 1880. Thus Albert Einstein spent only 15 months in Ulm – which makes him a "relative" citizen.

Nevertheless, our city offers a wide range of activities connected to the cosmopolitan Einstein and his personality cult...

The Einstein fountain, his birthplace, the Einstein monument, the Einstein exhibition, guided tours etc. etc. are definitely worth a visit.

The Ulm minster as a daedal work of architecture is known to nearly everybody. Fewer people know about Ulm's attractive and inventive museum and theatrical landscape.

Did you know that the Ulm museum features the oldest human-animal-sculpture in the world, the "Löwenmensch" (= "lion man", about 30.000 years old)? Or that you can see artwork by Breughel and Kollwitz in the "Museum der Brotkultur" (bread museum)?

Or that the museums at the Petrusplatz in Neu-Ulm, besides the work of the sculptor Erwin Scharff, regularly offer interesting special exhibitions (for example about Käthe Kollwitz)? By the way, Germany's legendary conductor Herbert von Karajan started his international career in Ulm – at the Ulm theatre!
